INSTRUCTIONS FOR REBUILDING DECO PUMPER CARBS
- Remove fuel strainer inlet
- Remove 6 screws from diaphragm stacks
- Remove diaphragm stacks
- Check high and low needle setting and write them down. Then remove needles.
- Remove fulcrum arm, pop off spring and needle and seat. [Caution keep an eye on the pop off spring and copper washer under needle and seat.]
- Clean carb with suitable cleaner. Squirt cleaner through all holes. Use compressed air to blow through holes for final cleaning.
- Inspect needle and seat for damage. Check for a worn needle.
- Reinstall needle and seat, copper washer first then needle and seat.
- [Note fulcom arm should be level w/body of carb] install fulcom arm and pop off spring.
- [Note pop off pressure must be checked wet w/WD 40] now you can check the pop off pressure w/ a pop off gauge. Check pop off pressure through hole feeding needle and seat. Proper pop off pressure is as follows. Stock and Mod 6to7lbs. B 8to9lbs. AA 4to5lbs. Pump gauge slow while checking pop off pressure. Gauge should pop off at proper pressure then hold.
- Reinstall needles set to proper settings.
- Assemble diaphragm stack, clean before assembly. Stacks are assembled as follows: first to go on is gasket for pump diaphragm. Next is the diaphragm, and then the metal pump plate is next. Then the gasket for the snakeskin, then the snake skin. Finally the top metal plate and fuel strainer.
- Fill carb with WD40 through fuel strainer and recheck pop off pressure. [Note on AA there is an additional diaphragm stack. Pay close attention when disassembly to the order of the diaphragm stacks. Always remember it goes gaskets then diaphragms.]
